what to expect

Taking the first step into counselling can feel daunting, but you don’t need to have everything figured out before starting.

Our first session is an opportunity to meet, talk a little about what’s bringing you to counselling, and begin to explore what you might like from therapy. It’s also a chance for you to ask any questions and get a sense of whether I feel like the right fit for you.

If we decide to continue working together, sessions are usually 50 minutes long and are typically held weekly or fortnightly, depending on what feels right for you.

My approach is grounded in person-centred counselling, which means I’ll meet you with empathy, honesty, and without judgment. While I draw on an integrative approach to tailor my work to your individual needs, the heart of how I work is about creating a safe and supportive space where you can explore what’s going on for you at your own pace.

Some people come to counselling with a clear focus, while others aren’t sure where to begin and simply know something doesn’t feel right. Wherever you are, that’s okay — we can work with it together.
